Pentecost market Mon June, 9-2025
The Pentecost market on Monday June, 9th was a success with a special atmosphere
It started a little bit chilly but the sun broke through and the temperature was perfect. The atmosphere was relaxed. Neighbors, tourists, friends, husbands, wives and children dropped by for a visit. There was serious interest and the market entrepreneurs were busy providing everyone with the necessary information and/or supplies. Everyone could look back with satisfaction on a successful 2nd Pentecost day. See you again next year on Monday 25th of May, 2026 (Photography Nicole de Vries Robbé)
* Pentecost was a very important Christian festival, especially in the early Middle Ages. It was then accompanied by a week of compulsory rest, known as the Holy Spirit Week, which was already somewhat shortened in 813. Standard Pentecost rituals included releasing doves in church, scattering peony leaves, blowing the klaroen, and holding jousts.
