Monique Engelenburg spoke about the book's creation. The book was presented to a large audience after 2½ years of tireless perseverance by a remarkably team: Monique and Henk Engelenburg (text), along with award-winning photographer Floris Leeuwenberg, English author Rose Casella and designer Sylvia Carilho. Painter Ans Markus explained that the Noordermarkt had been a source of strength and comfort during difficult times. She emphasized to everyone that the Noordermarkt must remain.

At the Noordermarkt, human connection and diversity are still a given. For over 400 years, everyone has been welcome, regardless of color, religion, environment, nationality, race, origin, age, or gender.
