Unique tea towel Noordermarkt
At the initiative of Akelei Hertzberger and based on her design, a tea towel was woven in the weaving museum in Geldrop in spring 2025, bearing the text:
"De NOORDERMARKT - SOCIAL CONNECTION OF THE CITY" - Life is weaving. We humans are like threads in the fabric of life. Warp and woof, insertion, wrapping and pulling through... You weave your way through life. At the market, young and old threads mingle—Persian, Turkish, Surinamese, American, African... Threads of cotton, linen, wool, satin, sisal, mohair, silk, plastic, bamboo, paper... Because at the market, new connections are created, strangers meet, loose threads are picked up and woven together. Each person in their many colors, sometimes shining yellow, vibrant red, tranquil in light blue. Sometimes soft and supple or hard and stiff. The market is like a nest, a haven and breeding ground. A haven where new ideas and connections can grow and flourish.
"400 YEARS NOORDERMARKT - SOCIAL CONNECTION OF THE CITY"" This tea towel comes with the newspaper "401 Years of the Noordermarkt," which woven our daily lives into a colorful tapestry. Because the market is more than just a place to trade goods: it's part of the city's social fabric !
